May 21, 2026 Rawalpindi
A oneday seminar titled Environmental Awareness and Peace Building Fostering Sustainable Communities and Social Cohesion Program was organized on May 21, 2026, in Rawalpindi, Pakistan by Hasna Welfare Development Organization in collaboration with the Christian Study Center Rawalpindi.
The seminar brought together religious leaders, social activists, development professionals, and representatives from various organizations to engage in meaningful discussions on environmental awareness, peacebuilding, interfaith harmony, and social cohesion. The event served as an important platform for encouraging dialogue, mutual understanding, and collective action toward building sustainable and peaceful communities.
It was a privilege for me, in my capacity as Executive Director of Learning and Growing Together Society, to participate as a guest speaker and share reflections on the vital role of interfaith cooperation and collaborative action in promoting peace and harmony in our increasingly interconnected world.
The seminar featured a distinguished panel of speakers, including Dr. Munir Farooq, Pandat Rakesh, Hergeet Singh, Nadeem Iqbal, Aamar Bukhari, Riffat Masood, and Fahmeeda Saleem, who shared their valuable insights and experiences from diverse faith and social perspectives.
Throughout the discussions, speakers emphasized that love, brotherhood, mutual respect, environmental responsibility, and interfaith harmony are fundamental values for creating societies that are both peaceful and sustainable. Participants were encouraged to work together across religious, cultural, and social boundaries to address environmental challenges and strengthen social cohesion.
A special highlight of the event was the presentation of the Appreciation Award 2026 Friends of Peace and Planet, which recognized individuals and organizations for their contributions toward peacebuilding and environmental sustainability. It was a great honor for me to receive this Appreciation Shield, a recognition that symbolizes the collective efforts of all those working to foster peace, protect our environment, and build a more inclusive and sustainable future.
The seminar concluded with a renewed commitment among participants to continue promoting environmental stewardship, interfaith dialogue, and community cooperation. The event served as a powerful reminder that lasting peace and sustainable development can only be achieved when people come together with a shared sense of responsibility for both humanity and the planet.
Through initiatives such as these, communities are empowered to become agents of positive change, working collectively to create a world characterized by peace, dignity, social harmony, and environmental sustainability for future generations.
